Signs a Door Needs Alignment
- Visible gap that's wider at the top or bottom than it should be
- The lock doesn't line up cleanly with the strike plate
- The door glides fine but doesn't sit flush when closed
- One side of the panel appears higher or lower than the other
How We Adjust It
Most sliding doors have roller height adjustment screws that let us raise or lower each side of the panel independently, correcting tilt and improving lock and seal fit without replacing hardware.
When It's More Than Adjustment
If the frame itself has shifted from home settling, adjustment alone may only partially help, we'll tell you plainly if that's the case rather than adjusting repeatedly without addressing the root cause.
What We Inspect
- Roller height on each side of the panel
- Whether the gap is uneven top-to-bottom or side-to-side
- Frame level and whether the house has settled
- How the panel meets the strike plate and weatherstripping when closed
Repair vs. Replacement
Most alignment issues are solved with roller height adjustment alone, no parts needed. If the frame itself has shifted from settling, adjustment provides only partial or temporary improvement, and we'll say so plainly rather than repeatedly re-adjusting a door that needs frame work instead.
Our Process
- 1. Check the gap and panel fit on all sides
- 2. Locate the roller height adjustment screws
- 3. Raise or lower each side independently to level the panel
- 4. Test the lock and seal fit at the new position
- 5. Fine-tune until the door glides evenly and sits flush
